Kinect-powered shopping carts

Whole Foods is experimenting with Kinect-powered shopping carts.

Check out the video on the link below, completely interesting and definitely something I can see happening in the very near future.  The idea of having the shopping cart power itself is good, more future oriented, but good.  The key idea in this article is the use of the tablet and scanner right in the cart.  THIS IS NOW!  Scan the item, pack the item in your re-useable bag and move on to the next item.  No need for 10 checkout area’s, shave it down to 4 and use the new extra area for more goods in the store.
